Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov spoke about the strategy for the return of Ukrainians from Russian captivity, noting that the first to be returned are the seriously wounded, women, those who have been in captivity for a long time and soldiers from Azovstal. He said this at a joint briefing with the heads of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, the Foreign Intelligence Service and the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, UNN reports.
"We will try to adhere to the following principles: first of all, we will return all seriously wounded and seriously ill people. Second, all women, and third, all those who have been in captivity for a long time. Unfortunately, the longer they have been in captivity, the more we will be engaged in making every effort to return such a person. Fourth, the tragic episode at Azovstal plays a special role for us. We pay special attention to the return of those who worked at Azovstal. We will also make every effort to return all other civilian prisoners who have been held captive since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, as well as those who have been there for about 10 years. Let's not forget about the Crimean Tatars and other groups to which we also pay attention. These decisions will be made today. They will be implemented," Budanov said.
