Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei called Trump's claim "false and baseless," according to Iranian state television.
Also, Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard separately issued a statement saying that the Strait of Hormuz is "firmly and decisively under the control" of its forces.
"This strait will not be opened to the enemies of this nation due to the senseless spectacle staged by the President of the United States," the statement added.

Earlier, Trump stated on Truth Social that the Iranian "president" had requested a ceasefire.
But he said Washington would not "consider" the alleged request until the Strait of Hormuz was reopened.
The US will ignore the alleged ceasefire request and will continue to "destroy Iran into oblivion" until the strait is "open, free, and clear," Trump said.
