According to Syrsky, the F-16s will strengthen Ukraine's air defense. They will allow Kyiv to fight Russian cruise missiles more effectively and hit ground targets with precision.
However, he emphasized that there are limits to the F-16's capabilities. According to Syrsky, the planes should be at a distance of "40 km or more" from the front line because of the risk that Moscow will shoot them down.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy saidthat Ukraine has not yet received the new F-16 fighter jets it needs to help counter Russian air dominance.
Zelenskyy also noted that Ukraine needs to reduce training on F-16s , expand the base for F-16 training, and increase the number of aircraft in the near future, not in 3-5 years.
