Ukraine is not interested in occupying the border regions of Russia, including the Kursk region. The Ukrainian military is carrying out tasks related to ensuring security around the borders of Ukraine, said Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak. He wrote about this on the social network X, reports UNN.

In the border regions of Russia, including the Kursk region, Ukrainians are solving only tasks related to ensuring security. Ukraine is not interested in occupying these territories. But it is interested in the actual destruction of many Russian military facilities, the displacement of the remnants of Russian troops behind the lines that allow for artillery and ballistic missile strikes on Ukrainian territory, the formation of a security belt around the borders of Ukraine, the destruction of military logistics and infrastructure (including storage bases, training centers, places of concentration of equipment)

- Podolyak wrote.

He stressed that Ukraine and Russia are waging different wars, which have clear legal definitions. If Russia deliberately attacked Ukraine with the aim of killing civilians and occupying its territory, which is an absolute war crime, as Podolyak pointed out, then Ukraine is waging "an exclusively defensive war, including on the territory of the aggressor to ensure the protection of its own population, which is its absolute right..." Podolyak noted.

The Ministry of Reintegration has opened a hotline for residents of the Kursk region who want to evacuate to Ukraine14.08.24, 23:12
