Law enforcement officers notified a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 6th and 7th convocations from the banned Party of Regions of suspicion of state treason. He is also suspected of inciting national enmity, combined with deception, and glorifying the Russian Federation. This was reported by UNN with reference to the State Bureau of Investigation.
According to UNN sources, this is about the former MP Vadym Kolesnichenka.
As indicated by the State Bureau of Investigation, the deputy before the events of the Revolution of Dignity took an active part in attempts by the then authorities to prevent Ukraine's integration into the EU and instead bring it closer to Russia. Among other things, he organized provocative actions to quarrel Ukraine with Poland.
In 2014, he prematurely resigned as a deputy and fled to the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, where he began to serve the invaders. He was employed as an advisor in the occupation administration, and then unsuccessfully ran for the so-called "governor of Sevastopol".
Not having received the desired positions and recognition, the traitor continued to carry out subversive activities against Ukraine. The deputy made anti-Ukrainian statements in the Crimean media, made anti-Ukrainian videos that were posted on the Internet for general viewing
In his speeches after the start of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, the former MP publicly praised the aggressive war and the aggressor, belittled the Ukrainian people and denied Ukrainian statehood.
The maximum punishment for committing these actions is life imprisonment.
Reminder
In early November 2024, based on materials from the State Bureau of Investigation, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv sentenced Kolesnichenka to 5 years in prison for inciting police officers to abuse their authority with the use of violence and inciting national enmity and hatred.
