In the case of inflated prices for urns for the ashes of fallen soldiers, the former director of the capital crematorium and other participants returned UAH 200,000 in damages, the indictment was sent to the court. This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday, UNN reports.

According to the prosecutor's office, the pre-trial investigation established that "the former director of the funeral service of the Kyiv Crematorium Specialized Enterprise Combine agreed with an individual entrepreneur, who is the official's godfather, and their accomplice to purchase urns for the ashes of fallen combatants at inflated prices.
As noted, the said entrepreneur has been supplying urns for ashes since 2020 at a price of UAH 200 per piece. However, with the beginning of a large-scale invasion of the territory of Kyiv region by the armed forces of the Russian Federation, in 2022 the price of these urns from this entrepreneur unreasonably increased to UAH 800 per urn, the prosecutor's office said.
"As a result, the accomplices seized budget funds worth more than UAH 200 thousand in 2022-2023. This difference, by which the real value of the ballot boxes purchased from the entrepreneur was overstated, was confirmed by forensic examinations. Due to the principled position of the prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, the defendants have compensated in full the damages caused by transferring funds to the account of the Kyiv City Council," the prosecutor's office said.
"The indictment against these individuals has been sent to court for consideration on the merits," the statement said.
