Residents of apartment buildings should determine their financial capabilities and choose the best option for purchasing power generators or other alternative sources of electricity. After all, even at zero temperature, blackouts are unavoidable. Energy expert Gennadiy Ryabtsev told UNN about the need for condominiums and housing cooperatives to be involved in partial compensation programs for the purchase of such devices.

Details

According to the energy expert, people should clearly calculate the costs and take into account all aspects of further operation.

"As for the generators, it should be understood that they must be operated in the necessary conditions. That is, they should not be exposed to rain or snowfall, they should be installed under the roof, and in such a way that they are not flooded with water. They cannot be installed indoors and must be operated in such a way that they are not exposed to the open air, especially in winter.

Before purchasing the appropriate devices, you need to calculate the costs and determine how much money will be needed to operate them properly," said Gennadiy Ryabtsev.

In his opinion, even at zero temperature, local blackouts cannot be avoided.

"The forecasts are quite certain: a shortage of 4-5 gigawatts of capacity means that stabilization outage schedules will be in place and in effect for three to four stages during the heating season, four stages when the temperature is low, and two to three stages when the temperature is near zero," the expert adds.

Optional

UNN has already written about the advantages and disadvantages of various different autonomous energy supply systems, their cost and the amount of compensation from city budgets for their purchase under the relevant programs that successfully operate not only in regional centers but also in small towns.

In particular, in Brovary, almost two million hryvnias have been allocated for this purpose since the end of 2022 .

"The corresponding program has been operating in our city since the end of 2022, and about thirty Brovary condominiums and housing cooperatives have already joined it, some of them repeatedly. The city has allocated almost two million hryvnias for compensation. In order to receive compensation for the installed generator, the management of an HOA or housing cooperative must apply to the city's Department of Housing, Infrastructure and Transport. A commission reviews the application, determines the amount of compensation and makes a decision at a meeting of the executive committee," said Brovary Mayor Ihor Sapozhko.
