The European Union has expressed concern over the decision of the Israeli government to allocate significant additional funding for the expansion of settlements in the West Bank. This is stated in a statement published on the official EU website, reports UNN.

The European Union stated that such a decision will lead to further strengthening of Israeli settlements in sensitive areas of the West Bank, increase fragmentation and isolation of Palestinian communities, and heighten the risks of human rights violations.
The EU also rejected the decision of the Israeli government to grant the settlement of Givat Ze'ev, located in the West Bank, the status of an official municipality of Israel.

The statement emphasizes that the European Union does not recognize Israel's sovereignty over the territories occupied since June 1967, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.
The EU also reiterated its call on Israel to refrain from further settlement expansion, legalization of outposts, land appropriation, demolition of buildings, evictions, and other unilateral steps that undermine the prospects for implementing the two-state solution.
