Ukrainian power engineers have managed to minimize restrictions and introduce fewer power cuts than expected in anticipation of the heat wave and increased consumption. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Hrynchuk during a telethon, UNN correspondent reports.
The heatwave we've been experiencing this week has resulted in shortages in the power system. Since the beginning of the week, the transmission system operator Ukrenergo has been forced to resort to planned outage schedules. I would like to note that power engineers managed to minimize restrictions and introduce less power outages than we initially expected amid the heat wave and increased consumption
She noted that power engineers are working almost around the clock to prepare the power system for the autumn-winter period during this difficult summer period.
Thanks to the well-coordinated work of power engineers, we have no electricity restrictions for Ukrainians. We hope that we will be able to maintain this situation in the future
Addendum
"Ukrenergo reported today, August 22, that electricity consumption continues to grow due to the heat wave, Ukraine will attract emergency aid from Slovakia today, and imports from 4 neighboring countries are planned. The weather has cut off power to 63 settlements in Lviv and Zakarpattia regions. No consumption restrictions are expected today, but it is advisable to consume electricity sparingly throughout the day.
