President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping at a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the russian Security Council dmitry medvedev said that the situation in Ukraine should be defused as soon as possible.

According to state broadcaster CCTV, Xi Jinping said that China will continue to work to create "favorable conditions for a political solution" to the Ukrainian crisis, promising to strengthen "strategic synergy" with russia.

On the Ukrainian issue, China has repeatedly emphasized that it is necessary to firmly adhere to the three principles of preventing the spread of the conflict, preventing the escalation of hostilities, and preventing the parties from adding fuel to the fire

- Xi Jinping said.

The DPRK leader reiterated Beijing's position on the war in Ukraine, saying that China has "repeatedly emphasized" the need to adhere to three principles:

not to expand the battlefield;

not to escalate hostilities;

do not fan the flame.

In response, Medvedev said that russia "positively" perceived China's position on the Ukrainian issue, noted the initiative of the Friends of the World group proposed by China, Brazil and other countries, and was ready to "actively seek a political solution" to the Ukrainian crisis.

There is a real situation on the ground. There are changes to the constitution of the russian federation. There are the conditions that were announced by President vladimir putin at the beginning of the special military operation. There are our concerns, to put it mildly, about the way events are developing around NATO and Ukraine's possible membership

- The Russian politician said.

Medvedev also told Xi Jinping that he brought a "personal message" from russian President vladimir putin.

According to media reports, the parties will discuss the implementation of the agreements between the countries.
