Law enforcement officers established that a seven-year-old child died while receiving dental services in one of Kyiv's private clinics. The boy's heart stopped after the administration of anesthesia, and resuscitation measures taken over the course of two hours did not help.
The prosecutor's office noted that the causes of death and the quality of medical services provided to the patient will be established during the investigation.
Under the procedural guidance of juvenile prosecutors of the Sviatoshynskyi District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv, a pre-trial investigation has been launched on the grounds of a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 140 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - improper performance of professional duties by medical professionals
It is noted that the causes of death and the quality of medical services provided to the patient will be established during the investigation.
In case of guilt of medical workers, they face punishment in the form of restriction of liberty for a term of up to five years or imprisonment for a term of up to three years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Sviatoshynskyi Police Department of the National Police Main Directorate in Kyiv.
