During the first three quarters of 2024, the population of the Czech Republic decreased by 3300 people and now amounts to 10.897 million people, UNN reports with reference to Radio Prague.

According to media reports, the mortality rate (18,300 people) exceeded the birth rate by a record margin.

"In the interannual comparison, it was primarily the birth rate that fell, while the number of deaths remained virtually unchanged. The sharp demographic decline has to some extent mitigated the inflow of migrants. As a result, the total number of migrants who arrived in the country increased by 15,000 people," the report said.

In 2024, there were fewer marriages and more divorces registered. The Czech Statistical Office published the data on its website.
