Banksy has confirmed authorship of a new statue in London's Waterloo Place. The sculpture of a man with a flag over his face stands among imperial monuments.

Street artist Banksy has confirmed that a large statue that appeared in central London, UK, is his work, UNN reports, citing the BBC.

The sculpture, which bears his signature, depicts a man in a suit stepping forward from a pedestal while holding a flag that covers his face.

The location—Waterloo Place, St James's—is an area created to celebrate imperialism and military dominance in the 1800s. The sculpture is situated near statues of Edward VII, Florence Nightingale, and the Crimean War Memorial.

Banksy's representatives told the BBC that the statue was installed early Wednesday morning, and on Thursday afternoon, the artist posted a video of it on his Instagram account.

Regarding the statue's location on a ceremonial island in Waterloo Place, Banksy said: "There was a little gap."

Since the statue appeared on Wednesday, the number of people gathered around it has gradually grown.
