Bad weather in Ukraine left hundreds of settlements without electricity: the consequences

The bad weather cut power to 218 settlements in ten regions, rescuers were dealing with the consequences of the weather, according to NPC Ukrenergo and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, UNN reports.

According to Ukrenergo, as a result of stormy weather in several regions of Ukraine, 218 settlements were cut off from power in the morning - in Dnipropetrovs'k, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, a storm warning was issued across the country yesterday, November 4. In most regions of the country, strong wind gusts of up to 15-20 m/s were reported.

Over the past 24 hours, rescuers have been dealing with the aftermath of the weather in Ukraine.

In Chernihiv and Zaporizhzhia regions, emergency responders were involved in removing fallen trees from roadways. Using special equipment, the specialists sawed and removed branches to eliminate the threat to people and obstacles to traffic.

"Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries," the State Emergency Service said.

According to Ukrenergo, power engineers continue emergency repair work on the lines.

At the same time, according to Ukrenergo, the weather was sunny in most regions, so the operation of domestic solar power plants was more efficient than yesterday, and consumption decreased by 4.5% in the morning compared to the previous day.

But in some areas, difficult weather conditions persist - strong gusts of wind. 

Today, according to the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, the wind will be westerly, northwesterly, 5-10 m/s across the country, with gusts of 15-18 m/s at night in the southeastern and eastern regions. Therefore, Ukrainians are urged to be careful and cautious when outdoors.
