According to Egypt's Ministry of Health, 47 people were injured in the accident. Among those killed were children aged 13 and 14.
The accident occurred in the morning in Ismailia Governorate. Two pickup trucks carrying agricultural workers collided with each other.
Dangerous working conditions
Transporting workers in overloaded trucks and pickup trucks remains a common practice in Egypt. Millions of informal workers, including young people and children, use such transport.
Egyptian authorities continue to establish the circumstances of the accident and clarify the data on those killed and injured.
