On the night of July 21, air defense forces shot down 35 Russian attack UAVs of the Shahed type, and due to active counteraction, X-59/69 guided missiles did not reach their targets. On the night of July 21, 2024, the enemy struck:
- three Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Kursk region and Crimea,
- two X-59/69 guided missiles from the airspace of Kursk region - Russia,
- 39 “Shahed” strike UAVs from three directions: Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Crimea.
During the night attack, the Air Force's radio engineering troops detected and escorted air targets in more than 10 regions of Ukraine. Units of mobile firing groups of all the Defense Forces of Ukraine, as well as anti-aircraft missile troops and electronic warfare of the Air Force were involved in repelling the air attack.
Last night, the air defense managed to shoot down 35 enemy Shahed 131/136 attack UAVs. Also, thanks to active counteraction, enemy X-59/69 guided missiles did not reach their targets.
The air defense system operated in Sumy, Poltava, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kherson, Dnipro, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Cherkasy regions.
