Ukraine is studying European models of electoral law, including electronic voting. This is done with the aim of holding elections after the end of the Russian-Ukrainian war. This was stated by the head of the Servant of the People party, Olena Shulyak, in a commentary to Politico, UNN reports.

Details

Olena Shulyak, head of the Committee on the Organization of State Power in the Ukrainian parliament, said in a commentary to the publication that the government is considering models of electoral law.

We need to understand how we can conduct elections in a democratic way, using the best and most effective practices,

- she said.

Shulyak emphasized that Ukraine now has a huge problem with voters, as people have moved abroad.

According to various estimates, there are 6.5 million internally displaced persons alone,

- she noted.

Politico writes that even after the war, one of the country's main challenges will be ensuring that citizens scattered around the world, including the occupied territories seized by Russia, can vote.

Where are they now, where will they vote - all these issues need to be addressed

- Shulyak added.

She said that to this end, Ukrainian officials are studying various European election models to implement practices that would allow our country to hold free and fair elections after the war.

We are interested in the nuances of electronic voting and the technical assessment of other alternative voting options, in particular from the point of view of IT security,

- she said.

Olena Shulyak added that MPs are also considering voting by mail, voting in person abroad on Election Day, voting by proxy, and online voting.

Recall

In March of this year, President Zelenskyy statedthat holding elections in Ukraine in wartime is a challenge due to the need to change legislation, ensure voting rights for military personnel and displaced persons, and facilitate voting for 7 million Ukrainians abroad.
