Prosecutor Dariusz Korneluk said that Grzegorz Braun had been charged with four more offenses. The proceedings involving the MEP took place on Thursday, August 20. According to the prosecutor, the politician pleaded not guilty and refused to provide an explanation.
The proceedings, conducted by the Warsaw-Praga District Prosecutor's Office, cover four incidents that took place in 2025. The first charge concerns the removal of the Ukrainian flag from the city hall in Biała Podlaska on April 30. The investigation established that the politician acted together with his aide, whom he instructed to remove the flag. Investigators classified the incident as aggravated theft. The value of the flag was estimated at 20 zlotys.
The second charge concerns events on May 6 of last year at the then headquarters of the Ministry of Industry in Katowice. At that time, Braun took the flag of the European Union, trampled on it, and burned it. This act was also classified as aggravated theft. The value of the flag was 388 zlotys.
The third charge concerns the destruction of an exhibition dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community, "Jest nas więcej! Sprowokuj z nami równość" ("There are more of us! Provoke equality with us"), which was held in the Sejm in June 2025. The event featured 10 displays. The value of the destroyed property was estimated at 3,690 zlotys.
The final charge concerns a statement made by Braun during a televised debate amid the presidential election campaign on April 28, 2025. The politician then called the symbol of the "Żonkile" (daffodils) social campaign "a sign of shame and dependence." The prosecutor's office determined that the statement could constitute defamation of the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews and other organizations involved in organizing the event commemorating the beginning of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
The prosecutor's office is also conducting a separate investigation into events at a hospital in Oleśnica. Investigators plan to bring six additional charges against Braun, including the unlawful deprivation of a doctor's liberty, violation of her bodily integrity, and insult.
