In Rynok Square, a 46-year-old Lviv resident doused Mayor Andriy Sadovyi with an unknown liquid. Police have opened criminal proceedings on the fact of hooliganism.

In Lviv, a man doused the city mayor, Andriy Sadovyi, with an unidentified liquid; police have identified the perpetrator, the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region reported on Friday, UNN writes.

The incident occurred today, May 15, at around 10:40 AM on Rynok Square.

"A passerby ran up and suddenly doused the Lviv city mayor with an unidentified liquid," the police reported.

As indicated, an investigative-operational group and officers from other police services are working at the scene.

"The identity of the perpetrator has been established – he turned out to be a 46-year-old resident of Lviv," the police stated.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 1 of Article 296 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – a fine of one thousand to two thousand tax-free minimum incomes of citizens, or probationary supervision for a term of up to five years, or restriction of liberty for the same term.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and urgent investigative actions are being conducted.
