North Korea on Monday launched an intercontinental ballistic missile with a range sufficient to hit any point in the United States. The leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-un called the test Pyongyang's response to the US actions. This was reported by UNN with reference to Reuters.

Korean state media reported that during the test , the missile flew 1002.3 kilometers in 4415 seconds (73.6 minutes) at a maximum altitude of 6518.2 km and fell into the Sea of Japan in the area determined before the launch.
DPRK leader Kim Jong-un said that the launch showed what actions he would take "when Washington makes the wrong decision." He also emphasized that these tests "demonstrated the DPRK's will to counteract in the toughest way possible."
He also reiterated his condemnation of the U.S. military buildup in the region, including the arrival of a nuclear submarine in South Korea.

The United States, Japan, and South Korea condemned the ICBM launch as a blatant violation of UN Security Council resolutions.
