President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially appointed Rustem Umerov, who was the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, as the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, and Ihor Klymenko, who headed the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as the new Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine; the corresponding decrees appeared on the President's website, reports UNN.

Presidential Decree No. 694/2026 of August 3 states:
Appoint Ihor Volodymyrovych Klymenko as the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine
By previous decrees, Zelenskyy dismissed Umerov from the post of Secretary of the NSDC, and relieved Oleh Luhovskyi from temporarily acting as head of the SZR of Ukraine.
