Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the opening of the China-Russia Expo in the city of Harbin in northeastern China. The leaders of the two countries emphasized the strengthening of economic and strategic cooperation between Beijing and Moscow. In his address, Xi Jinping mentioned the anniversary of the strategic partnership between the countries and the 2001 friendship treaty. He stated the need to more actively utilize the geographical proximity and economic complementarity of China and Russia to stimulate development and improve the living standards of the population.
Vladimir Putin called the exhibition the largest bilateral platform for dialogue and cooperation between the countries and expressed confidence that the event would yield "positive results" for the further development of relations between Moscow and Beijing.
