This year, the subsistence minimum has increased, and with it the amount of alimony, according to the Ministry of Justice, UNN reports .

Alimony payments are mandatory and are withheld from all sources of the payer's income. Pursuant to Article 182(2) of the Family Code of Ukraine, the minimum guaranteed amount of alimony per child is not less than 50% of the subsistence minimum for a child of the respective age.
The Government of Ukraine adopted the Law of Ukraine "On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2024" on November 9, 2023, which increased the subsistence minimum:
- for children under 6 years of age - UAH 2,563;
- for children aged 6 to 18 - UAH 3,196.
Starting from January 2024, the minimum guaranteed amount of alimony will be:
- for children under 6 years of age - UAH 1,281.5;
- for children from 6 to 18 years old - 1 598 UAH.
How is the amount of alimony determined?
Taking into account the factor of the number of children, the calculation scheme is as follows:
- per child - ¼ of the income;
- for two - 1/3 of the income;
- for three or more - ½ of the income.
When determining the amount of alimony, the court may take into account various factors, such as the health and financial situation of the child and the alimony payer, the presence of other children and disabled relatives, property rights (real estate, car, etc.), expenses and income of the payer.
The guaranteed amount of child support is the minimum amount that a parent must pay if their income is low. The recommended amount, on the other hand, is the amount that the court sets if the child support payer has sufficient income. The maximum amount of alimony cannot exceed 10 subsistence minimums: up to 6 years - UAH 25,630; from 6 to 18 years - UAH 31,960.
