During the interview, the 42-year-old Kharkiv resident said that he planned to illegally get to one of the EU countries in this way, but did not realize that the journey would be so difficult and dangerous.
The desperado made his own route, but admitted that he lost his way several times in the mountainous terrain and walked a distance of approximately 50 to 70 kilometers. For five nights, the "tourist" slept in the open air in a sleeping bag, repeatedly heard wolves, wild boars and deer, and one day met a Carpathian lynx in a meadow.
A report under Article 204-1 was drawn up against the offender for attempting to illegally cross the state border. The further fate of the "unfortunate tourist" will be decided by the court.
Border guards once again warn of the dangers of illegal travel in the Carpathians, as it poses a direct threat to health and often ends in tragedy. Currently, the snow cover on the highland sections of the border with Romania is 1.5 to 2 meters high, and border guards often observe sharp changes in weather conditions.
