The cancellation of the deployment comes after Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth signed a memorandum ordering the withdrawal of a brigade combat team from Europe, according to two U.S. officials.
One official said the choice of unit remains with military leadership. The memorandum also led to the cancellation of a future deployment to Germany of a battalion trained to fire long-range missiles.
