Speaking on the CBS program “Face the Nation,” the Arizona Democrat said: ”130,000 Russians have been forced to leave their homes, and at this point in this conflict, I think the Ukrainians have done something unpredictable that could really change the course of this conflict.
When asked whether he was "satisfied" with the use of American weapons on Russian territory, he replied: "At the moment, yes.
“Ukrainians have been illegally attacked by Vladimir Putin. .... He deliberately killed women, children, and the elderly. It was an illegal invasion. It's an invasion, and I just, let's characterize it this way for now. I don't think Ukrainians want to deliberately hold Russian territory for a long period of time, but it really has put Putin on his heels.
Kelly added: “Since the invasion, now more than two years ago, we have, you know, periodically, as is appropriate, reassessed how we're going to handle the Ukrainians' use of the security assistance that we're providing them. And I think it's appropriate to continue to study their needs.
Kelly said that Ukraine's offensive should teach the Russians that President Vladimir Putin is not the “peerless defender” he has made himself out to be.
“He has always tried to present himself as a man who will protect Russia. I think his citizens are seeing the results of what he's done in Ukraine...”, Kelly said.
