As of Friday, November 1, there are no grounds to introduce schedules of power outages for the population, the press service of Ukrenergo said. This is how the company commented on the information disseminated by Supervisory Board member Volodymyr Velychko that the schedules may return next week, UNN reports .
“Today, some media outlets have spread information about the possible introduction of hourly blackout schedules in Ukraine starting next week. In this regard, NPC Ukrenergo informs:
- As of today, there are no grounds to introduce consumption restriction schedules for households;
- The drop in air temperature at the beginning of next week is indeed predicted to lead to an increase in energy consumption. However, only NPC Ukrenergo can predict whether it will be necessary to apply blackouts (in particular, for household consumers), as it has not yet provided any forecasts on the application of restrictive measures;
- Ukrenergo, together with the Ministry of Energy, regional military administrations and energy companies, is doing everything possible to prevent the application of consumption restrictions.
The company asked citizens to trust only official sources of information, and experts and officials of energy companies to refrain from commenting on issues that are “beyond their competence.
