Ukraine has begun consultations with the Italian Republic on concluding a bilateral agreement on security guarantees. This was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine, according to UNN.

On behalf of the President of Ukraine and the Head of the Presidential Office, the first round of consultations with the Italian Republic on the conclusion of a bilateral agreement on security guarantees, as provided for in the G7 Joint Declaration on Support for Ukraine, has begun.
The Ukrainian negotiating team was headed by Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva.

Ukraine has already started bilateral consultations with all G7 countries, including Italy. Italy will preside over the G7 next year. We appreciate the significant contribution of our Italian friends to the defense of Ukraine and the approach of a common victory. Italy's provision of security guarantees to Ukraine will be an important step towards our country's membership in the EU and NATO

The parties discussed approaches to the content and format of the future bilateral agreement, and agreed on a schedule for further communication.

Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak met with the Special Envoy of the President of the French Republic for Economic Assistance and Recovery of Ukraine Pierre Elbrun. They discussed, among other things security guarantees in the context of the negotiations launched by Ukraine and France.
