The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has extended the implementation of the Antarctic research program until 2025. The program has been supplemented, in particular, with measures to modernize the Antarctic station "Akademik Vernadsky". This was announced by the representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk, reports UNN.
"Amendments have been made to the State Targeted Scientific and Technical Program for Research in the Antarctic for 2011-2023. The term of the Program has been extended until 2025. The Program has been supplemented with measures to ensure the operation of the research vessel, as well as the modernization of the Antarctic station Akademik Vernadsky and other infrastructure facilities, etc.", Melnychuk wrote.

On December 19 , it was reportedthat the first chicks of sub-Antarctic penguins hatched near the Ukrainian Akademik Vernadsky station this season, with 8 out of 11 eggs producing babies, and a boom in penguin births is expected.
