Ukraine already has 1.8 million veterans, and the government's task is to strengthen their economic freedom. This was emphasized by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko, UNN reports.
Veteran policy is more than rehabilitation and social support. After service, our people should regain their wings – the desire and ability to work. Our goal is to employ 100,000 veterans by 2030 in partnership between the state and business.
According to her, the government is doing its part of the work for this. In February, the "Veteran. Work" program for 2026–2027 was approved – with support for individuals from employment to adaptation.
We are laying down guarantees in the new Labor Code for employees during military service – with the preservation of their job and position after service. The rights and social guarantees of veterans are for the first time systematically included in a separate Veteran Code, which has already been registered in parliament.
The private sector is moving in unison with the government. Already 120 businesses – the country's largest employers – have joined the principles of veteran-friendliness. These are companies that provide over half a million jobs and are changing approaches to hiring, HR policies, internal culture, procurement, marketing, community engagement, and public reporting.
The Prime Minister thanked businesses for this work and called for unity, creating opportunities, and investing in the development of veterans.
