UAVs with a range of 3000 km: what new targets are opening up for Ukrainian “deep strikes” on the territory of the Russian Federation

The President of Ukraine stated that attack drones are capable of covering a distance of over 3,000 km. This opens up the possibility of striking targets in the Urals, Siberia, and oil-producing regions of the Russian Federation.

Recently, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian strike drones will be able to cover a distance of at least 3,000 kilometers. The President announced this against the backdrop of a record-range strike on an oil refinery in Tyumen – to reach the target, the drones covered at least 2,500 km. What other targets are opening up for drones capable of covering at least 3,000 kilometers, UNN analyzed.

Which drones are we talking about

The strike on the plant in Tyumen was carried out by a modernized FP-1 – a strike drone for deep strikes from the company Fire Point.

According to information from the manufacturer itself, the modernized drone covers a distance of up to 2,700 km compared to 1,650 km in the previous version. Among the innovations is an additional monoblock fuel tank in the wing. The manufacturer did not disclose more details.

Where the modernized FP-1 can reach

It will be difficult to calculate with precision even to a hundred kilometers, because for this you need to know not only the potential target, but also the launch site of the drone – which is strictly classified for security reasons. We also calculated the distance by air.

The depth that Ukrainian deep strikes can now penetrate increases significantly – this includes not only the European part of the Russian Federation, but also the Urals, Western Siberia, and part of Central Siberia.

Ukraine has already struck a significant portion of the largest Russian oil refineries. Among the powerful enterprises, the Omsk Oil Refinery (Omsk) and the Angarsk Oil Refinery beyond the Urals have not yet been attacked.

The approximate distance to the Omsk Oil Refinery is 2,100 km, but the situation with the Angarsk Oil Refinery is more complicated – it is already in the territory of the Irkutsk Region, Eastern Siberia – and the approximate distance that will need to be covered to reach this refinery is 4,500 km. There is also gas extraction and gas processing infrastructure, which is also quite widely represented in this region.

Nizhny Tagil and the Sverdlovsk Region as a whole are now definitely within the strike zone of Ukrainian "deep strikes." Ukraine has already struck targets in this region, but it is quite possible that with the increase in flight range, this region will now encounter "cotton" more often, because this is where production facilities that can be considered potential targets are located. For example, Uralvagonzavod (Nizhny Tagil) – a leading developer and manufacturer of armored vehicles, including T-90M "Proryv" and T-72B3M tanks. As well as the Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Plant, the Kachkanar Mining and Processing Plant "Vanady" and "Uralmash" (production of components for armored vehicles and artillery).

In general, the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk regions and Udmurtia have a powerful industrial complex, part of whose enterprises work for the defense industry. In addition to those already listed, these are, for example, the Kalinin Machine-Building Plant – one of the largest manufacturers of anti-aircraft missile systems for air defense in the Russian Federation (Buk SAM system), the Ural Optical-Mechanical Plant, the Ural Electrochemical Plant (Novouralsk).

Another refinery in Russia has suspended operations – the second largest in terms of gasoline production26.06.26, 10:13

But Ukrainian drones have already demonstrated that they can fly further, in particular, into the Tyumen Region. The main industry here is the fuel industry, whose share is 86.4% of the region's industrial output. A significant portion of Russia's oil and gas is extracted precisely in the Tyumen Region. In the city of Tobolsk,  approximately 2,700 km away, the "West Siberian Petrochemical Plant" and the petrochemical enterprise "SIBUR Tobolsk" are located.

In June 2026, for the first time since the start of the war, an air raid alert was declared in the Omsk Region – which is approximately 2,600 km from Ukraine. Key enterprises: "Omsktransmash"  (production and repair of T-80 type tanks); "Production Association 'Polyot'" – production of the Kosmos-3M launch vehicle, spacecraft, fulfilling orders for military satellite programs; "Omsk Engine-Building Association" – production of aircraft engines. As well as the Omsk Oil Refinery, which we already wrote about above, which has not yet been hit.

Actually, Omsk and the territories adjacent to it currently look the most reachable for the updated "deep strikes." If we consider this region today as the extreme point of reachability, it becomes obvious that such fairly remote regions as  the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Komi, and the Nenets Okrug could also come under attack. Not all facilities in these regions may be reachable for the modernized FP-1, but some are located within the maximum stated flight distance.

The Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, with the city of Surgut, is practically on the border of 2,700 km. KhMAO is a region where a significant part of oil production is concentrated. Together with the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the Tyumen Region, they provide almost 80% of all oil production in the Russian Federation. Extraction by Lukoil, Rosneft, and Gazprom Neft is concentrated here. Komi also has oil and gas production, but mostly coal is mined here.

That is, it looks like Ukrainian "deep strikes" will now be able to reach not only oil refining, but also the regions where its extraction takes place.
