Twenty-three minutes after the US-registered helicopter took off, it crashed.
Irish police confirmed to Sky News that two men in their 40s died in the helicopter crash.
Police said that an Irish man and an Eastern European man died at the scene. It was supposed to have happened a little before 15.30 local time, Sky News and several Irish media outlets reported.
“We understand that there has been an incident where a helicopter has crashed into a building in Joristown Upper Townland in Killookan,” Pat Hunt, an emergency services spokesman, told a local radio station after the first reports.
The helicopter crashed into the roof of a farm near the town of Killukan.
All emergency services were soon mobilized. The Irish Accident Investigation Board was informed of the accident and sent several people to investigate the incident.
