Twelve residents of the occupied part of the Donetsk region have been served with notices of suspicion for collaborationist activities. After participating in illegal "elections" representing "United Russia," they joined the pseudo-authorities of the "DPR" and are facilitating their functioning. This was reported by the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, according to UNN.
Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, 12 residents of the occupied part of the Donetsk region were notified of suspicion in absentia. Among them are 7 men and 5 women who took part in illegal "elections" organized by the occupation authorities in September 2023,
It is noted that they ran as candidates for the "United Russia" party and, after receiving mandates, joined the illegal "DPR" government bodies. Five became so-called deputies of the "Amvrosiivka," "Shakhtarsk," "Yasynuvata," and "Volnovakha" municipal councils, while others joined the "Donetsk," "Debaltseve," "Yenakiieve," "Snizhne," and "Horlivka" city councils.
It was also established that two of the suspects had been deputies of Ukrainian local self-government bodies—the Amvrosiivka District and Snizhne City Councils—even before the full-scale invasion. The head of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office notified them of suspicion.
Two other figures joined the pseudo-committees "on budget, finance, and economic policy" and "on issues of management, municipal property, land relations, and environmental protection." Another headed the "committee on social and youth policy."
The pseudo-deputies participate in meetings of the occupation "councils," vote for decisions in favor of the Russian Federation, handle issues regarding the budget, communal property, and land resources, and disseminate Russian propaganda narratives among the population.
They face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
