US President Donald Trump said that sometimes, to achieve peace, the parties to a conflict have to go through heavy fighting. He stated this during a conversation with journalists together with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO summit, reports UNN.
According to the American leader, a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia has long been under discussion.
"Sometimes I use a simple analogy. There are two children in a park, they don't like each other and start fighting. Sometimes you need to let them fight so they understand how hard it is. I think this agreement has been in the works for a long time," Trump said.
He also emphasized that Ukrainian troops are effectively using American weapons.
"He has done an incredible job. Yes, Ukraine got the best equipment because it got our equipment. But someone has to know how to use it. And you have very brave people who do that," the US president noted.
