"This missile will not hit anything": Fire Point's chief designer explains why the Oreshnik has accuracy problems

Fire Point co-founder Denys Shtilerman stated that the Oreshnik missile misses its target by tens of kilometers due to a low-quality gyroscope.

The Russian intermediate-range ballistic missile "Oreshnik" has extremely low accuracy, missing its target by tens of kilometers. This was stated by co-founder and chief designer of Fire Point, Denys Shtilerman, in an interview with LIGA.net, reports UNN

Shtilerman believes that strikes with this weapon should be treated more calmly, as the "Oreshnik" is equipped with a low-quality gyroscope (a device that helps the missile determine its position in space and maintain or adjust its flight path).

"We saw what kind of gyroscope is installed there. I would be ashamed to put that gyroscope into my missile anywhere, because it was clear that this missile would never hit anything," the designer added.

He recalled that the occupiers launched two "Oreshniks" at Kyiv. As a result, one missile fell near temporarily occupied Donetsk, and the second hit garages in Bila Tserkva.

"What accuracy can we even talk about," Shtilerman noted, adding that this missile could be a carrier of a thermonuclear warhead.

"Well, yes, something will explode 90 km from the target. And what will happen to the target? Nothing will happen," said the co-founder of Fire Point.

On June 27, FP-5 Flamingo missiles manufactured by Fire Point struck the "Titan-Barrikady" plant in Volgograd. This enterprise specializes in the production of launchers, artillery systems, and components for missile systems, including "Iskander-M", "Yars", and "Topol-M".  The media also reported possible involvement of the production facility in the "Oreshnik" program.

Earlier, on February 20, also using the Flamingo, the "Votkinsk Plant" in Udmurtia was struck. The plant manufactures rocket engines for "Iskander" missiles and intercontinental ballistic missiles (including the "Oreshnik" missile). The strike damaged production workshops.
