The Ministry of Transport of Slovakia does not support the blocking of the border with Ukraine, promising consultations with the Ministry of Internal Affairs to prevent such a protest. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Serhiy Derkach after talks with the Slovak side on November 22, UNN reports.
According to the Ukrainian official, he had a conversation with Denisa Zilakova, State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Transport, during which they discussed the risks of blocking the border and the implementation of the Agreement on the Liberalization of Transport between Ukraine and the EU.
Slovak colleagues confirmed that they do not support the blocking of the border. Especially when it comes to the only cargo crossing point with Slovakia, Uzhhorod-Vysne Nemecke. That is, it is a direct risk of losing the truck traffic between our countries. They promise to hold consultations with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Slovakia to prevent such a protest, Derkach wrote on Facebook.
According to him, he had a positive impression of the call in general - "everyone is set up for dialogue and cooperation in the transport sector."
Context
There have been two attempts to block the checkpoint adjacent to Ukraine's Uzhhorod checkpoint for trucks on the Slovak border. This happened after the start of a strike by Polish carriers at three checkpoints on the border with Ukraine, where truck traffic is blocked.
