Mykhailo Podolyak , an adviser to the head of the Presidential Office, said on Monday that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's idea to create a "buffer zone" in Ukraine is a clear sign that Moscow is planning an escalation. Podolyak said this in a commentary to Reuters, UNN reports.

"This is... a direct explicit statement that the war will only escalate," Mykhailo Podolyak said in a written statement to Reuters.
"All this is a direct evidence that the Russian Federation is not ready to live in modern socio-political relations, taking into account the absolute sovereign rights of other countries," he said.
Putin made this comment about the possibility of creating a "sanitary zone" on Sunday after winning another term in the Kremlin in three-day elections that the West called a sham.
