The National Bank of Ukraine plans to build an effective instant payment ecosystem by the end of 2024. While planning the development of the EPS after 2024, the NBU is considering the introduction of new versions of the EPS, in particular, multicurrency, a tracking service for payments, and a payment transaction risk assessment service. "The NBU Electronic Payment System (hereinafter referred to as the EPS) is a complex and unique software and hardware complex, the software and environment of which were developed by the National Bank of Ukraine. The EPS began its history in 1993 and is constantly evolving and improving," the NBU said.
The NBU reported that on April 1, 2023, the National Bank of Ukraine switched to a new generation of EPS (version 4.0), which operates on the basis of the international standard ISO 20022 and is available for payments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
"The goal of the National Bank of Ukraine is to build an effective instant payment ecosystem in Ukraine by the end of 2024. Therefore, the NBU has started testing the instant payment functionality of SEP-4.1 among SEP participants. At the same time, when planning the development of the SEP after 2024, we are considering the introduction of the following in new versions of the SEP: multicurrency, a tracking service for payments, a payment transaction risk assessment service, etc.", the NBU said.
