As of now, there is no final decision on raising electricity prices. This was stated by Deputy Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk on Sunday, April 7, during a telethon, UNN reports .
Details
There is no final decision on this (tariff increase - ed.) yet. To begin with, we need to fully understand to what extent we will be able to restore the power system to the point where we can cover all consumption, especially in the following difficult periods - an increase in consumption in the summer, preparation for the next heating season
At the same time, the official noted that tariff increases cannot be ruled out given the difficult situation in the Ukrainian energy system.
She also noted that the Ukrainian government is currently working with partners to help restore power facilities and introduce additional generation so that Ukraine can successfully get through the summer and the coming winter.
Ms. Hrynchuk added that Ukraine currently has enough domestic generation to cover its consumption, but there are problems with the electricity transmission system.
It is one thing when there is enough generation, but it is another thing when we have problematic regions, such as Kharkiv and Kharkiv region, where local generation and transmission systems were severely damaged. So, the question is how to deliver this electricity to consumers
