Why it won't work in the seventh season
In 2020 The Crown creator Peter Morgan announced that the fifth season would be the last season, although he had originally planned for the series to run for six seasons. However. later that year, Morgan announced that there would actually be six seasons of the show, because as they were planning season five, they realized they needed one more season to do justice to the depth of history of the period.
When we started discussing the storylines for season five, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story, we had to go back to the original plan and do six seasons,
At the same time, from the from the very beginning of the show, Peter Morgan indicated that he had a "20-year rule 20 years", according to which he would like to stop the show at the point in history which was 20 years before where we are now.
I have a 20-year rule in my head. That's enough time and enough distance to really understand something, to understand its role, to understand its position, to understand its relevance
So, it seems that fans will not see the royal wedding in the series. But it should be noted, that Morgan hinted in a recent interview with Variety that he has a few ideas for spin-offs and possibly a prequel to the series.
