In Russia, the course towards tightening control over the information space continues. The next step was the introduction of recommendations for the use of state security certificates to access Russian websites. This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on Monday, reports UNN.

"The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation recommends that citizens install state security certificates to access Russian websites through foreign browsers. The department explains this by the revocation of certificates by foreign certification centers, due to which banking services, government portals and other Russian resources may operate with interruptions," the post says.
As noted, security certificates are used to confirm the authenticity of websites and ensure access to them. However, after installing the state certificate, verification of Russian online resources will be carried out through infrastructure controlled by the Russian authorities.
In fact, the Kremlin is consistently building the so-called "sovereign internet" - a completely isolated network, the key elements of the digital infrastructure of which are under the full control of the state. The Russian authorities will use such a network for total control over the population and maximum coverage of citizens with propaganda

In Russia, disruptions of mobile internet have already been recorded in 80 regions, including Kamchatka. The Russian authorities explain this as protection against drones, although the real goal was called tightening control over the information space.
