Sweden will sell Poland three A26-class submarines to strengthen defense in the Baltic Sea area. This is reported by Polish Radio, informs UNN.
Details
It is noted that the corresponding agreement will be signed in the Polish city of Gdynia. The contract is estimated at 20 billion zlotys (approximately 4.66 billion euros). Poland will receive the submarines themselves by 2030.
Until then, Sweden will provide a so-called "gap filler" - an older submarine for training future submarine crews
It is indicated that the Polish-Swedish consultations in Gdynia are taking place within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries, renewed in November 2024. During the meeting, issues of the future NATO summit, security in the Baltic Sea, and further support for Ukraine will be discussed.
Recall
According to The Guardian, Poland and the Baltic countries are preparing for a scenario in which US troops may not join the defense in the event of a possible attack by the russian federation.
