Employees of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine detained a man who wanted to cross the border and escape to Romania. The offender attacked the border guards with pepper spray. This was reported by UNN with reference to the SBGS.
Details
A unit of the Chernivtsi detachment used a UAV to detect an unknown person moving toward the border with Romania. However, during the detention, the unknown person did not want to communicate with the border guards and sprayed pepper spray in the face of the servicemen.
The agency noted that one of the border guards suffered a chemical burn to his eyes and was taken to the hospital. He is currently undergoing treatment, his health condition is satisfactory.
The offender, a local resident born in 1998, was detained administratively in order to clarify the circumstances of the offense.
For resistance and violence against a law enforcement officer, the National Police was notified of the detection of signs of criminal offenses under Articles 342 and 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine
The State Border Guard Service also showed a drone video showing a detachment of border guards detaining the offender.

More than 1.6 thousand criminal proceedings were initiated. However, the number of cases of illegal border crossing decreased compared to last year.
