In Sumy region, a man and a woman were poisoned by mushrooms. This was reported by the Sumy Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention, UNN reports.

"As it turned out, the victims, a 33-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, residents of the Hlukhiv city territorial community, had collected false raincoats, which are inedible poisonous mushrooms, in their own yard. In addition, the technology of cooking with mushrooms also requires a special approach, and in this case, the mushrooms were only fried. Thanks to the efforts of Hlukhiv hospital doctors, the worst was avoided and the patients' condition is improving. The patients are being located," the statement said.

It is reported that the cause of mushroom poisoning is carelessness, negligence, and disregard for mushroom picking, and failure to follow the technology of mushroom preparation.

Symptoms of mushroom poisoning:

nausea,

vomiting,

abdominal pain,

excessive sweating,

lowering blood pressure,

To prevent mushroom poisoning, the following requirements must be met:

1. Do not pick mushrooms:

if you are not sure that you know them - no matter how appetizing they may seem;

near transportation highways, industrial wastelands, former landfills, and in chemically and radiation hazardous areas;

unknown mushrooms;

with a damaged leg, old, flabby, wormy or slimy;

lamellar mushrooms, as poisonous mushrooms disguise themselves as such.

2. Buy mushrooms only in designated places (shops, greenhouses, specialized stalls), especially avoid spontaneous markets.

3. Do not taste raw mushrooms.

4. Check the mushrooms at home again. Throw away any that are questionable. Throw away the lower part of the mushroom stem that is contaminated with soil. Rinse the mushrooms, and remove the slippery film from the cap of buttercups and morels.

5. Mushrooms should be cooked on the day of collection, otherwise they will develop cadaveric poison. When processing, boil the mushrooms for 7-10 minutes in water, then drain the broth. Only then can the mushrooms be boiled or fried.

6. Never give mushrooms to children, the elderly, or pregnant women.

7. Follow the rules for canning mushrooms. Improperly cooked canned mushrooms can cause a very serious disease - botulism. Be sure to boil mushrooms that have been stored for a long time for 10-15 minutes.

"In all cases of mushroom poisoning, you should immediately seek medical attention," the report says.
