Slovakian truckers threaten to block the Uzhhorod-Vysne Nemecke" checkpoint on the border with Ukraine on Friday, December 1. They demand that measures be taken to limit competition from Ukrainian carriers, said the head of the country's Stanislav Skala, the head of the country's truckers' association UNAS, according to Reuters, UNN reports.
It is noted that the Slovak action will lead to the closure of the Uzhhorod-Vysne Nemecke checkpoint, the only one on the border open to heavy trucks.
The head of UNAS said, that the truckers will wait for a response from Slovakia's Ministry of Transport until Thursday before making a a final decision.
He said that on December 4 December in Brussels will be a meeting of European transport ministers, but he does not have high hopes for it.
"It seems that neither the Ukrainian side nor the European Commission wants to back down," he said.
