At a meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, Shoigu said that the Russian military had allegedly occupied Maryinka.
Putin noted that with the alleged "capture" of Maryinka, the Russian occupiers were allegedly pushing Ukrainian combat units away from Donetsk.

The General Staff reported this morning that in the Mariinka sector, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Mariinka and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region - our defenders repelled 5 Russian attacks.
Earlier, Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavsky, commander of the Tavria operational and strategic group of troops, said that Russians continue to spread false information about the complete capture of Maryinka.
