Searches are underway at three regional police departments, Ukrainian media reported on Wednesday morning, according to UNN.
UNN has reached out to law enforcement for an official comment, and official information is currently expected.
MP Oleksiy Honcharenko stated on Telegram that "several high-ranking officials were detained while receiving a bribe." "All have been served with a notice of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (acceptance of an improper benefit)," the MP indicated. Honcharenko claimed that allegedly "among the suspects are: an assistant to the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs (...); the head of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional police (...); the deputy head of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional police (...); the first deputy head - chief of the investigative department of the Ternopil regional police (...); the deputy head of the Zhytomyr regional police (...)". This information has not been officially confirmed. Honcharenko also reported that "there is also information that the NABU is conducting searches at the office of the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Ternopil region. These searches are related to a different case."
"I see many writing that the head of the National Police, Vyhivskyi, has submitted a resignation letter. This is not true," Honcharenko also wrote.
