German Chancellor Olaf Scholz hopes to visit Donald Trump after his inauguration as US president on January 20 and before the early elections in Germany, which are likely to take place on February 23, dpa reports, UNN writes.
Details
In his first phone call with Trump after his victory in the November election, Scholz "expressed a desire to visit him shortly after taking office," government sources said.
"We cannot rule out" that this will work, the sources said.
Scholz has not yet been invited to Trump's swearing-in ceremony on January 20.
According to Trump's press secretary, Caroline Leavitt, Trump invited Chinese leader Xi Jinping somewhat unexpectedly.
Leavitt said that other foreign leaders were invited, but did not disclose details.
