Details

According to the official, Saudi and regional intelligence services have received numerous reports that Iraqi armed groups, together with the Houthis, may launch strikes on the kingdom’s territory in the near future. The source told the network that the coordination of these actions is allegedly being carried out by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Tensions rise ahead of regional summit

According to CNN’s regional sources, information about the possible attacks emerged ahead of the Turkish-Saudi-Pakistani summit in Mecca, during which the parties are expected to announce an agreement on joint defense.

The reports also came after the Houthis claimed an attack on a Saudi oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden. In recent weeks, Saudi Arabia has already faced Houthi missile strikes from Yemen and drone attacks that, according to CNN, were carried out by pro-Iranian militias in Iraq.
