During air raids, the Kyiv subway operates in a shelter mode around the clock. Yesterday, on November 17, more than 32 thousand people were at the stations during the massive shelling of the capital. KCSA told about the basic rules of behavior in the subway during air raids, UNN reports.

Reportedly, due to the massive use of subway stations by the population as shelters and the presence of a significant number of people on the platforms, changes are being made to the operation of some stations, including Osokorky, Vydubychi, Arsenalna and Khreshchatyk. Thus, the stations are being switched to operating exclusively as shelters, and train traffic is being adjusted depending on the current situation. These changes are being made solely for safety reasons, as the stations are crowded with people, and there is a potential threat of stampedes or injuries.
The KCSA has provided several recommendations for personal safety at subway stations during the air raid:
- Do not linger at the exit of escalators. Move quickly to the middle of the station platform to avoid crowding and injury;
- if the station platform is overcrowded, move to another, less crowded station. You will be more comfortable, and it will be easier for the station staff on duty to monitor the current situation at the station;
- do not step over the boundary line - this is a matter of your personal safety and the safe movement of trains.
After the air raid alarm has been canceled, transit trains are sent from the electric depot to the busiest stations to transport passengers. In particular, these are Osokorky, Poznyaki, Darnytsia, and Livoberezhna metro stations.
